About Renguso Counseling

Renguso Counseling is my private counseling practice located in Long Grove, Illinois. My name is Joseph A. Renguso and I have been a practicing counselor for over 10 years. I received my Bachelor's Degree in 1993 in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. After working a few years in a private counseling practice as a non-clinical staff member I went back to school to obtain my Master's Degree in Counseling, which I completed in 1998. From 1997 to 2002 I worked as a Therapist in a therapeutic day school, a special education school and a community counseling agency. Since 2002 I have been in private practice.

I also have post-graduate training in clinical hypnosis from the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH). Using the tool of clinical hypnosis along with traditional psychotherapeutic approaches has greatly improved the process of goal achievement and positive movement in therapy.

Another aspect of my practice is combining psychotherapy and hypnosis to help athletes achieve higher standards within their sport. Whether an athlete is struggling with current performance or looking for an extra edge, training the mind as well as the body is a positive step in deterring temporary blocks and achieving athletic goals. Although I work with athletes from all sports, I specialize with runners. I am also a professional running coach and utilize my counseling and clinical hypnosis skills with the runners I coach.
